So many game-oriented events exist, and more are being created all the time. There are many events geared around specific niches or elements of game design. It’s loaded with people from everywhere in the industry, and they’re there to teach you their best practices and discuss all kinds of game design concepts with you. The conference, of course, has its fair share of industry speakers, participating both in summits and giving separate presentations. The GIS User Conference talks about a very specific technology – geographic information systems – and invites users from all around the world to come and see what GIS can do for their businesses and everyday lives.
It can be a little pricey, especially if you’re on a student budget, but it’s definitely worth your time to get there at least once. This year there was a special focus on virtual and augmented reality, featuring people on the game side and the cinematic side of this new technology. The beginning of the conference usually has several all-day workshops. Registered participants spend a day entrenched in these in-depth tutorials.
What’s also great about UX conferences is that not all of them target the UX/UI community, but the people who work with them on a daily basis. Product managers, developers and other professionals who work closely with design can find an event for themselves. Organizers are still confirming the speaker lineup, but they’re planning for a hybrid UXDX EMEA conference, with a Dublin gathering plus online attendance.

It’s a cool exercise to see industry professionals from all over the world submitting votes for games they think should win awards across 13 categories.
DLN Partner, Rubelli hosted an intimate group of DLN Members on an incredible and inspiring trip through Como, Vicenza, Venice, and Murano. The DLN co-hosted an intimate dinner at Menton with Michael Phillips of the Boston Design Center during the Boston Design Market. Over 30 DLN Members joined us and we celebrated with various Partner events. Becky Birdwell, Managing Director of the Design Leadership Network hosted a dinner in the spring of 2018, just before Design ADAC, with the hopes to expand our network in Atlanta, GA. The Design Leadership Network hosted an intimate cocktail party for Members & Partners at the iconic Sag Harbor home of Steven Gambrel.
